Who we are
This website, eclipsefrontiers.org, is run by EclipseFrontiers, a knowledge consulting firm based in Lagos, Nigeria. We are responsible for the personal information you share with us through the site. You can reach us about anything in this policy at hello@eclipsefrontiers.org.
We handle personal data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and, for visitors in the UK and European Economic Area, the UK GDPR and EU GDPR.
What we collect and why
When you book a discovery call
The booking page asks for your name, email address, organisation, the focus area you choose, any notes you add and the time you pick. We use this to schedule the call, send you a calendar invitation and prepare for the conversation and, if you become a client, to manage our work together. Our legal basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and our legitimate interest in responding to people who get in touch. The Frontier Guide chat doesn't collect personal details; it points you to the booking page.
When you use the free tools
- Grade My Reply sends the reply you paste in, and the customer message if you add one, to our grading service so it can score the text. Please don't paste in personal details about real customers. If you submit your score to the benchmark, only the scores, the length of your reply and the industry you choose are kept, not the text.
- The Flamingo strategy game keeps your progress in your own browser. If you post a score to the Hall of Fame, the name you enter and your score are published on the leaderboard for other visitors to see, so use a nickname if you prefer.
- The CS Optimisation Engine, Frontier Mapping, Business Analysis Toolkit and Staffing Calculator run in your browser. What you type into them stays on your device unless you choose to download or share it.
Visitor statistics
We count page views so we can see which pages and tools are useful. We do this ourselves, without cookies and without any third-party analytics company. For each page view we record the page address, the website that linked to it (the site name only), whether you're on a phone, tablet or computer, and an anonymous code that changes every day. That code is made by scrambling your IP address and browser details together with the date. It lets us count unique visitors for a single day but can't be used to recognise you on a later day, and your IP address itself is never stored. If your browser sends a "Do Not Track" or "Global Privacy Control" signal, nothing is recorded. Statistics are kept for up to two years.
Security records
To stop spam and abuse, our servers keep a short-lived, scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address when you send a form, book a call, grade a reply or post a score. These records are only needed for a short time and are deleted automatically once they are more than two days old.
Cookies and browser storage
This site doesn't use cookies for tracking or advertising, so there's no cookie banner. Some features save small amounts of information in your own browser's storage to work properly: the chat remembers your conversation for the current visit, the mobile "contact us" bar remembers that you closed it, and the Flamingo game and CS Optimisation Engine save your progress. This information stays on your device, and you can clear it at any time in your browser settings.
Who we share it with
We don't sell or rent your personal information, and we don't share it for marketing. We use a small number of service providers to run the site, and they process data only on our instructions:
- Netlify hosts the website and the database where enquiries and visitor statistics are stored.
- Google (Google Workspace, Sheets, Calendar, Meet and Apps Script) is where our team receives enquiries and bookings, sends calendar invitations and runs the reply-grading and leaderboard services. The grading service uses Google's Gemini AI model to score the text you submit.
- Google Fonts supplies the typefaces on this site, so your browser connects to Google's servers to load them.
Some of these providers store data outside Nigeria, including in the United States and the European Union. Where that happens, we rely on the providers' contractual safeguards for international transfers.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries and booking details only for as long as we need them to deal with your request and follow up on it, and we regularly review and delete ones we no longer need. Client records are kept for as long as the law and our professional obligations require. Hall of Fame entries stay published until you ask us to remove them.
Your rights
You can ask us to give you a copy of your personal information, correct it, delete it, limit how we use it, or send it to someone else. You can also object to our using it, and where we rely on your consent, withdraw that consent at any time. To do any of this, email hello@eclipsefrontiers.org. We'll reply within 30 days.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (ndpc.gov.ng) or, in the UK or EU, to your local data protection authority. We'd appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Keeping it secure
The site is served only over encrypted HTTPS connections. Our forms accept submissions from this website only and limit how often they can be sent. Access to enquiries is limited to the EclipseFrontiers team.
Children
This site is for businesses and professionals and isn't directed at children under 18. We don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
